Since the last post we have accompolished so much.

Wedding related stuff, we booked a florist, photographer, videoagrapher & dj. The past few weeks I have been really looking into make up artists, and starting to look into hair as well.  Been getting some crazy price quotes for make-up, which I had no idea  they were that expensive hahah. But I am on a hunt for a great girl with a great price. Have a few that I have been referred to, so will check them out. At this point I have narrowed down our invites to three so that will be done in a few days as well.   I have also started the limo hunt. We have a large bridal party so we need a limo to fit at least 16 but looking more for 18 or 20 people. We both woud like a limo compared to a party bus.  So everything is starting to come along… Still cant’ belive how quicky the time is flying pretty soon we will be  four months away!!!!

On the house front our tenants have moved out so we are in the process of cleaning up the house, unpacking and panting. Thank the lord for both our parents, they have been helping us there so so much. Both Eric and I feel a bit overwhelmed but from what  what we hear that is all normal.  Over the next days we will try to unpack and organize things which in itself is so flipping hard, trying to figure out what goes where etc.  Well until next time!!!

So it’s been a while. Since my last post!!!

A lot has happened Eric and I are offcialy home owners. Which happened on Feb 17th, so that was really nerve wracking and exciting. We aren’t in the house yet, the previous home owners are living there still they are renting form us. They are living there month to month, so once we do have a moving date I will have to let you all know.

As far as wedding related stuff, we booked our dj. We know who we are using for our photographer & videoagrapher.  We were very lucky to find Inku, he does great work and has an awesome personality. Our videoagrapher will be EDR Video prodcutions, there son is actually in my after care program so I know them well. There work is really nice, actually wI would say there work is excellent.

Today I started the process of florist hunting.  Now going to lie, I had no idea how involved picking out flowers was going to be. LOL The first place we went to was def a good start, I was over whelmed but now I feel like I do know what I want more then I did prior. So def a good start.  In a week or so I will receive the prices, so i will take it from there. If anyone wats to recommend florist that they have used feel free. I would like to have a florist booked up by Mayso I do have some time, but glad I started this process. I was lucky enough to have mom and Sarah there to help, lord knows I needed it.

The last time that we went to Sew & Sew the ones that were there did like one particular dress. I however wasn’t thrilled with it. I did think that it was pretty & everything just felt like something was missing.  So going today I was a bit afraid that they were going to really want to just order that one. I should of known better, my girls were all about trying on what ever I took out. They themselves drove right into looking at them & pulling ones out that they wanted to try on. There were a few that were pretty that went in the maybe pile. For the heck of it I went back to the dresses and was just relly looking to see if I or them missed any.

I pulled out this one dress that I fell in love with! I was a little afraid that they all wouldn’t have like it but was mistaken. They all said just looking on it on the hanger, “aww that’s pretty non of us saw that”. But once it was on the first person, we all really like if not loved it!!! We are not putting the order in right away but that is def the dress!!! I had a really fun day so glad that we all found one that we liked. I really hope my girls enjoy themselves as much as I did. I really do have a the best  group of girls>

I know it’s been awhile since my last post.  But I did order my dream dress  as I wrote in the last post. Since then  I had a great bday weekend. Can’t believe I am 28 lol. I had a great birthday thanks to Eric, Sarah & Keefe. They all threw such a great birthday for me on Saturday night. I am so lucky to have them in my life.

Now Eric and I have started searching for those wedding vendors. We are in need of the following…

Photographer, DJ or band, florist & limo company. We have two meeting this week so we will have to see how that goes.

There was much that happened looking back through the year. There were weddings of friends & family that we had a blast at.  We got three new 2nd cousins all who happen to be little boys> love you all Chase, William & Gavin. I became very close with JL/JU who got married and is expecting her very own little girl in March.

Sadly we lost Grandma Moss who was a very special part in our lives. I am so happy  to have known her the past 6.5 years. She was a great cook, wonderful woman and we all miss her so much. She is  always with us!!!

The best part of 2009 happened in the very beginning of the year. We went on a marketing cruise with Eric’s cousins Jesse & Arnel. We had a great time meant some people who we have become close with. But the happiest day of the year happened on Jan 12th 2009 when Eric surprised the hell out of me when he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I always knew that we would end up together & would make some wise cracks about it taking so long but I really didn’t expect it to happen on that cruise or even this year. He proposed on the island of St. Kits and it was amazing!!! Everything about it was just beautiful. A few people knew that he was going to be asking on that vacation but I def was shocked. The ring that I am privilege to wear everyday is breathtaking! It sparkles and just looks amazing on my hand. ( Thanks Sarah I know you helped) Eric you did wonderful!!!  But darling Jan 12th was the best day of 2009 and I can’t wait for our wedding date on November 14th, 2010.

The first place we went to was Frantoni’s in Rockaway. The girl there was sweet, we were the only ones there for most of the time which is nice, lol. Yes they had some nice dresses but none that really wowed any of us.  So leaving this place I was still thinking that the dress that I found last time at House of Brides was still going to be the one.

Going to Sew & Sew Bridal which was the only other place we were going to that day, I started feeling like maybe I was wasting my time & the girls. We hit some traffic and it was a bit further then I originally thought so we were running close to 15 min late. I called to let the owner know, and she was so sweet on the phone which really was nice. I was afraid that she was going to give attitude, but instead was as sweet as pie, told us to take our time and drive safe. When we got there we knew that we had to go quick for the place closed at 6. The ladies were very sweet told everyone to look through as they talked to me. As we were looking through we saw a dress that was very similar to the House of Brides dress that we previously saw. But we found out that it was  a different designer and a tad different. I ended up trying on about maybe 10, some that one or two of the people liked but I only thought it was so so. The 2nd to last dress that I did try on was very nice. The girls liked it and I did to, wasn’t sure if I liked it as much as the House of Brides dress, but it was pretty. Right before I was about to change back into my clothes the owner came over, with a dress that she said Emily thought I would tr it on. I can’t say too much just in case Eric reads this, but when the dress went on and I walked out. Everyone was like OMG, that is unbelievable, wow: beautiful. I started looking in the mirror and despite not showing emotion I started to really like this dress. Sarah even started crying it’s different then I thought I would have liked but there was def something about it. When we left the store it was 6:30 which was 30 min after the store closed, not once did I feel like we were being rushed out which was just so nice. I left the store thinking there was now a tie but the more I thought about it that night and the next day, I realized I loved everything about that dress. So as of now it is ahead of the House of Brides dress. There is just something about that we all loved…

I am going to go out to Macys with my cousin who is also getting married on Jan 9th for the trunk show. I am thinking that this will be the last time we go out, because the more I think about that dress from Tuesday the more I am falling for it. As silly as that sounds.

The first visit of the day was Rita Rose, where we did see some lovely dresses. Their was  one that everyone really liked but I didn’t fall in love with it.  Started thinking that maybe I was being a little to picky. But everyone told me I can be as picky as I want to be,  which made me feel better.

We went to House of Brides next, the staff there was great. Very friendly, let my girls look at the dresses told them to sit down and get comfy which was nice to here. The pricing here wasn’t bad at all! I started to try dresses on but to be honest every dress I had on was just “ok” if that. I put one on that was pretty and it was in the same category of the dresses that I found at Macys the first day. It was pretty, fit well & not badly priced but still didn’t wow me. The next dress I put on, was def the best thus far. We would change  the dress a little bit (can’t go into detail incase my future hubby reads this). When the owner suggested something that we can do to the dress I actually started to tear up a little bit. It knocked out all the other dresses  that I did like up to this point.  I had six people with me, and they all said they loved it. So there is a good chance that I will decide to order this dress.  My mom and girls even tried a few dresses on quickly. We found two dresses that can work for my girls, but my girls that were there fell in love with one. So it’s def a start! Overall we all left there in a very happy mood and most likely will be going back.

The last place we went to was, Dress to the Nines. A cute boutique and the 2nd person to help us was much nicer then the first. There were many dresses that were nice there, but none of them knocked my socks off. Even my girls & mom said yes these dresses are beautiful but none of them were me.  They were also at least double the price then the dresses we looked at prior!!

Leaving Morristown we figured out that we will go out one more time after the holidays.  There was one store in Rockaway that I really did want to go to. So we will see what they have to offer at that point. We will return to Macys at Willowbrook that day as well. Despite being there the first day, none of us that day really knew what style I was looking for. So now that we know we will go back and really look! Till next time…

So this past Saturday I went bridal gown shopping with my mom, a few bridesmaids, cousins and a few friends. We were nine  in total, and we had some good laughs. Just wanted to share a few of my thoughts on it. I will be honest I really had no clue what I wanted to end up with,  I did however know that I really didn’t  want a big poofy cinderella type of dress. Although everyone said to be open-minded, and try on everything so that,  I did at the first spot.

We went to Macy’s bridal department at Willowbrook Mall. I have to say everyone there was very nice, which made the process very enjoyable. The bridal consultant  let us pick out the dresses and she just brought them to the dressing room.  She was very patient  and overall the staff at Macy’s was great. We were allowed to take pictures, which is a big plus when you want to look back at the dresses, as well as show people who were unable to make it.  My little flower girl was also there, and they were fine with her trying on a flower girl dress and going up to all the mirrors doing what a 2 1/2 year old girl would do. They made a big fuss about her!.

The next place we went to was Park Ave. I was so so excited to go here, because all I was told were great things about this bridal salon.  So needless to say I was very surprised to feel the opposite. We got there ten min late, but I had my sister tell them we were sitting in traffic (she was there first) five min before the appointment. Once we got there we had to wait 20 min before our bridal consultant was ready to help us. She gave a look right away, when she saw how many people we were. She also wouldn’t let our flower girl use the fitting room that I was going to be using to try on a flower girl dress, she was crying and said “I want to try a dress on” it was her nap time  ahe she was going to leave. As she was asking me if I had certain styles that I wanted to try on, I was honest I told her that I really didn’t’ want the big poofy style, as well as telling her that I was good with a slimmer fit as well as an A-line. When I went to try on the first dress, I took off my boots and she was like “our policy is that you wear shoes” so she got me very uncomfortable heels, and when I told her for the actual wedding I would be wearing flats she gave me a look.The store as a whole was packed so there was no room at a pedestal with a mirror. SO I said the dressing room is big enough we will all just stay in here, so everyone with me came in which was fine.  She then manage to say no one is allowed to take pictures  or use their cell phone which is store policy. We were all shocked, we understood not taking pictures, but not being able to use a cell phone I thought that was awful.  Every dress that she brought in looked very similar they were all the poofy styles that I said I didn’t want. After a while she was starting to get a little nasty with her looks and comments. Two of my girls offered to go out and grab a few that they thought were the styles that I wanted and sure enough they were, when they brought them to the dressing room she gave the dresses looks.

As a whole we had a much better experience at Macys for the above reasons. I do want to point out, when hearing advice from everyone just know that you might not have that great experience that they had at a bridal salon. Maybe the bridal consultant that you are given that day is in a bad mood, or what not.  Just realize just because everyone loved a place, doesn’t mean that you will feel the same.

I am getting married in actually one year. November 14, 2010. So I am going to blog my journey and share my experiences. With hopes of of being able to help other brides.
